An invitation to join:

Book Arts Santa Cruz is organization for everyone interested in the book arts.

In the early 1980s a group of Santa Cruz letterpress printers actively involved in making fine press books formed the Printers' Chappel of Santa Cruz. Today, because the world of the book has changed, and there are so many people interested in the book arts who are not letterpress printers, members of the SCPC have decided to create a new organization, Book Arts Santa Cruz. We welcome and want to include printers, printmakers, graphic designers, marblers, calligraphers, scrap bookers, binders, papermakers, book collectors, artists… in other words, everyone interested in the book arts, novices and professionals alike.

March 22, 2012 meeting to be hosted by Felicia Rice

For those of you who missed the meeting, Felicia had her presses running and we all got a chance to print a broadside, in two colors because she had two presses running. A big round of thanks to Felicia for giving her talk about book arts in Mexico, and for hosting the meeting.

Please make your way to my place in Bonny Doon for the next Book Arts Santa Cruz meeting. I'll be sharing my experience at Codex Mexico http://www.codexfoundation.org/mexico-en.html. This truly fantastic exhibition, symposium and book fair of California and Mexican book artists took place in Mexico City from February 16-19, just last week (and the reason I missed Gary's meeting). There will be slides and anecdotes, a keepsake (each one print one).

The meeting will take place on March 22nd from 6:00-9:00. My home and studio are at 10699 Empire Grade, 10 miles past the west entrance to UCSC. The drive takes 1/2 hour or so. Do carpool if you can. Bring goodies to share.

RSVP by March 20. Feel free to invite a friend who is not yet part of BASC.
